My name is Ellen de Zwart and I was born in Katwijk aan Zee in 1961, but I have lived in Zutphen for more than 30 years. As a child I already loved drawing people and was fascinated by Rembrandt's paintings. Due to work and family there have been years that I hardly touched a brush or a pencil. It wasn't until 2010 that I found my passion again, painting and drawing people, due to a change of personal circumstances. I am self-taught. In the 90s I was a member of a painting group still life in watercolours. In 2019 I started painting in oils. In the same year my selfportrait in pastel was selected for the exhibition Long Live Rembrandt, which meant that my work was exhibited at the Rijksmuseum for two months, an enormous  boost. Since September 2019 I have been a member of the drawing and painting group ' Het Palet' in Zutphen where we draw and paint every week by model.
